I(ni subject prefix for first person singular);present tense Maker (na);age(plural)=Direct translation.

My age is ………or I have ……..years old=communicative translation

Jina la baba yangu ni ……….

Name (jina)of (la) father (baba)my (yangu)is (ni)=direct translation

My father’s name is …….or the name of my father is =Communicative translation.

Jina la mama yangu ni……

Name (jina):of (la): mother (mama):my (yangu):is(ni)=direct translation.

My mother’s name is ……….or the name of my mother’s is =Communicative translation.

Jina lake ni ………

Name (jina) his or her (lake): is (ni)= direct translation

His or her name is=Communicative translation.

Jina lenu ni ……..

Name(jina)your( lenu )is (ni)=direct translation

Their name is Communicative translation

Jina letu ……….

Name(jina) :our ( letu) is ( ni )= direct translation.

Mimi ni mwanafunzi ……….

Practice one :Daudi and Tausi make self_ introduction.

Daudi is a boy

Tausi is a girl

They are both pupils

Tausi is in class three while mark is in class five.

Daudi starts: Jina langu ni Daudi

Tausi responds : Jina langu ni Tausi

Daudi: Nimefurahi kukufahamu Tausi

Tausi; Asante ,hata Mimi nimefurahi kukutana nawe .

Daudi; Kwa heri

Tausi; Ahsante tutaonana tena.

This is just self_ introduction between Daudi and Tausi.

Daudi says he is happy to know Tausi “kukufahamu”

and Tausi say ,she is happy to meet with Daudi”kukutana”

Then they thankĀ  each other next time”tutaonana tena”
