Serikali yatoa kauli ongezeko bei za vyakula
SERIKALI imewahakikishia Watanzania kuwa hakuna maeneo yatakayokosa chakula kwa kuwa inayo hifadhi ya kutosha huku ikisisitiza kuwa, bei ya bidhaa nyingi ikiwamo ya chakula ni nafuu Tanzania ukilinganisha na nchi nyingine za Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki (EAC).
Aidha, imesema ni kosa la kisheria kwa wafanyabiashara kupandisha kiholela bei ya bidhaa hasa vyakula hususani wakati wa sikukuu za Krismasi na Mwaka Mpya na kwamba mfanyabiashara anayefanya hivyo anaweza kushitakiwa kosa la uhujumu uchumi.
Naibu Waziri wa Uwekezaji, Vi[1]wanda na Biashara, Exaud Kigahe alisema hayo Dar es Salaam jana wakati akizungumzia mwenendo wa bei za bidhaa muhimu nchini kwa mwezi Desemba 2022.
“Kupitia ushindani wa haki, kuna hatua mbalimbali dhidi ya anayekiuka na kupandisha bei kiholela ikiwamo kufutiwa leseni au kufikishwa mahakamani kwa kuwa huo ni uhujumu uchumi,” alisema Kigahe.
Kigahe alibainisha kuwa serikali inafanya juhudi mbalimbali kudhibiti mfumuko wa bei nchini ikiwamo kuweka ruzuku kwenye mafuta hali iliyopunguza gharama za usafirishaji na kupunguza baadhi ya kodi katika malighafi za uzalishaji bidhaa.
Alisema kutokana na juhudi hizo za serikali, bidhaa nyingi zikiwamo za chakula na vifaa vya ujenzi, ni nafuu ukilinganisha na baadhi ya nchi wanachama wa EAC.
“Mwenendo wa upatikanaji wa bidhaa za mafuta ya petroli duniani zinazochangia mfumuko wa bei umeendelea kuimarika na bei za bidhaa hizo zimeendelea kushuka na hivyo kupunguza gharama za uagizaji, usafirishaji na uagizaji wa bidhaa na malighafi zinazotumika katika uzalishaji kutoka nje ya nchi,” alisema.
Akithibitisha nafuu ya bei ya mazao nchini ukilinganisha na nchi nyingine za EAC, Kigahe alisema kwa mujibu wa Mpango wa Chaku[1]la Duniani (WFP) na Global Product Prices, nchini Uganda bei ya mafuta ya kupikia imekuwa wastani wa Sh 7,900; Sh 8,000 Rwanda; Sh 10,000 Kenya; lakini kwa Tanzania ni wastani wa Sh 6,200.
“Mahindi ni wastani wa Sh 1,500 Rwanda, 1,850 Uganda, 1,880 Kenya, lakini Tanzania ni Sh 1,275.
“Aidha, bei ya unga wa mahindi ni wastani wa Sh 2,200 nchini Rwanda, Sh 2,500 Uganda, Sh 2,538 Kenya, lakini Tanzania ni wastani wa Sh 1,625,” alisema.
Aliongeza: “Wastani wa bei ya mchele kwa Rwanda ni Sh 2,700, Sh 3,500 Uganda na Sh 4,136 Kenya, lakini kwa Tanzania ni Sh 2,850 pekee.”
Akifafanua hali hiyo, Naibu Waziri alisema: “Licha ya mfumuko wa bei kutokana na athari za vita kati ya Urusi na Ukraine, majanga mengine kama Covid-19 na ukame, mfumuko wa bei nchini Tanzania ni wa kiwango cha chini zaidi ikilinganishwa na nchi jirani.”
Aliongeza: “Kwa Tanzania mfumuko wa bei kwa mwezi Novemba ni asilimia 4.9; Kenya asilimia 7.38, Uganda asilimia 10.6 na Rwanda asilimia 21.7.”
Alisema serikali imeiagiza Tamisemi kuhakikisha maeneo husika yanakuwa na soko la pamoja ili kuwafanya wafanyabiashara wakiwamo wakubwa kutoka nje ya nchi, kununua mazao hayo sokoni badala ya shambani au nyumbani kwa kutumia vipimo visivyo halali vya ‘lumbesa’ na ‘kangomba’.
“Hatua hii pia itasaidia kuonge[1]za mapato ya halmashauri kupitia ushuru…” alisema.
