Tanzania yapongezwa kukabili magonjwa mlipuko

KAGERA: Ubalozi wa Uingereza nchini umeipongeza Serikali ya Tanzania kwa mikakati na jitihada za kukabiliana na magonjwa ya mlipuko hasa ugonjwa wa Marburg uliotokea mkoani Kagera kwa vipindi viwili tofauti.
Naibu Kamishna wa Ubalozi huo, Sally Hedley ametoa pongezi hizo leo Machi 11, wakati wa ziara yake ya siku tatu mkoani Kagera ambapo alisema lilikuwa ni jambo la kufurahisha kuona hatua zilizochukuliwa za kukabiliana na ugonjwa huo.

Amesema Ubalozi wa Uingereza wao kama wadau wa sekta ya afya waliwezesha elimu kwa wananchi pamoja na wahudumu wa afya ngazi za jamii na hivyo jitihada hizo zilisaidia kukabiliana na ugonjwa huo na Tanzania imekuwa mfano wa nchi nyingi za Afrika kudhibiti magonjwa ya mlipuko.

“Nimewahi kuona pia nchi kama Ethiopia ilipitia changamoto ya ugomjwa wa mlipuko ,Congo DRC walipata Ebola na nchi kama Uganda ambao ni majirani zenu wamepata changamoto lakini kwa namna Tanzania ilivyokabiliana na mlipuko wa virusi vya marbug kwa nyakati mbili tofauti imekuwa hatua kubwa,” amesema.
“Katika ziara hii nimefurahia kuona maisha yanaendelea bila changamoto huku wahudumu wa afya ya jamii wakiwa wamepata mafunzo ya awali ya kutosha namna ya kukabiliana na magonjwa ya Mlipuko,” amesema Hedley.

Kwa upande wake mwakilishi mkazi wa Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO), Dr Alex Gasassira amesema shirika hilo limewajengea uwezo watumishi wa idara ya afya kuimarisha usalama wa kiafya katika maeneo yaliyoathirika lakini pia kuboresha maabara sambamba na kuimarisha usimamizi katika suala zima la udhibiti na ushirikishwaji wa jamii.
Alisema pia shirika hilo lilitoka msaada wa elimu ya saikolojia kwa waathirika wa ugomjwa huo ambao hawakupoteza misha yao ili kuendelea na maisha bila wasiwasi jambo ambalo limefanikiwa lakini elimu iliolewa na usimamizi madhubuti katika vituo vya dharura na mkusanyiko hasa kwa maeneo ya mipakani.

Mkurugenzi wa Maafa na Dharura kutoka Wizara ya Afya, Dk Erasto Silvanus amesema kuwa serikali imeimarisha maeneo ya dharura na ufuatiliaji wa magonjwa kwenye jamii.

Amesema Kagera ilipata ugonjwa wa Marburg mwezi Machi 2023 ulisababisha vifo vya watu watatu na mara ya pili ilikuwa January 2025 na ulisababisha vifo vya watu 10.
