MWANZA: The Sengerema District Court in Mwanza region has sentenced Amos Malaki, 30, a resident of Soswa village in the district, to three years in prison after he was found guilty of injuring two people by biting them.

In a statement issued by the Police Force, it was stated that after the accused committed this offence he was brought to court for the first time and confessed to committing the offences without disturbing the court. Amos bit Regina Thomas in her eye and Mashaka Daudi on the thumb of her right hand.

Reading the charge, State Prosecutor, Nyamhanga Tissoro, explained that the first incident occurred on January 8, 2025, at around 11pm, where the accused assaulted Regina Thomas. The other incident occurred on January 9, 2025, at 6:01pm, where he assaulted Mashaka Idd Daudi, who was trying to resolve an argument.

The court used PF3’s evidence from the victims after they underwent a medical examination, as well as the defendant’s confessional statements he made when questioned by the Police, and decided to convict him of the offences.

However, when the accused was given the opportunity to defend himself, the accused explained that alcohol contributed to the crimes, and that the second victim intervened in an argument that did not concern him.

After listening to the arguments of both parties, Judge Kisoka sentenced the defendant to three years in prison, saying that it should serve as a lesson to people with behavior like Amos’.
