Ikungi yang’ara Great Ruaha Marathon 2026
IRINGA: Paulo Damian na Tunu Andrea wote wa Ikungi mkoani Singida wameibuka mabingwa wa mbio za kilomita 21 za Great Ruaha Marathon 2026 kwa upande wa wanaume na wanawake na kujinyakulia Sh Milioni moja kila mmoja.
Kwa upande wa mbio za kilometa 10, Angel John wa Ikungi mkoani Singida na Shomari Mohamed wa Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam waliongoza mbio hizo hatua iliyowawezesha na wao pia kujipatia Sh Milioni moja kila mmoja.
Wakati Paulo Damian alitwaa taji la kilomita 21 kwa wanaume baada ya kutumia saa 1 na dakika 40, Angel aliongoza upande wa wanawake akitumia saa mbili na dakika 33.
Katika mbio za kilomita 10, Shomari aliibuka mshindi wa kwanza kwa wanaume kwa kutumia dakika 30.58 huku Angel akitumia dakika 36.36.
Mbio hizo, zilizofanyika kwa mara ya tano ndani ya Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Ruaha, zimeendelea kuthibitisha kuwa si tukio la michezo pekee, bali ni jukwaa la kimkakati la kutangaza utalii wa Tanzania, kuhamasisha uhifadhi wa mazingira, kukuza uchumi wa wananchi na kuvutia uwekezaji.
Washindi wengine wa mbio hizo walioshika nafasi ya tatu walijitwalia Sh 400,000 kila mmoja, na walioshika nafasi ya pili walipata zawadi ya Sh 600,000 kila mmoja pia.
Mkurugenzi Mkazi wa UNDP Tanzania, Shigeki Komatsubara. alisema tunashiriki mbio hizi si kwasababu wakimbiaji wanakimbia kwa ajili ya medali pekee bali kwa ajili ya kulinda mazingira na kuhamasisha uhifadhi.
Alisema uhifadhi wa mazingira unahitaji ushirikiano wa Serikali, wadau wa maendeleo na wananchi, akibainisha kuwa UNDP imeendelea kushirikiana na Tanzania katika kupunguza ujangili, kulinda tembo na kuwawezesha wananchi wanaozunguka maeneo ya hifadhi kunufaika na utalii.
Kamishna wa Uhifadhi wa TANAPA, Massana Mwishawa, alisema Great Ruaha Marathon imekua na kuwa moja ya matukio makubwa yanayochanganya michezo, utalii, utamaduni na uhifadhi wa mazingira.
Alisema kupitia marathon hiyo, TANAPA inaendelea kuhamasisha wananchi kulinda Mto Ruaha Mkuu, ambao ndiyo uti wa mgongo wa Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Ruaha na chanzo muhimu cha maji kwa mabwawa ya Mtera, Kidatu na Bwawa la Mwalimu Nyerere linalozalisha umeme.
Mkuu wa Wilaya ya Iringa, Benjamin Sitta, alisema pamoja na mafanikio ya marathon hiyo, mapambano dhidi ya ujangili na uharibifu wa vyanzo vya Mto Ruaha Mkuu yanapaswa kupewa kipaumbele, akionya kuwa bila wanyamapori na maji ya kutosha hifadhi hiyo itapoteza thamani yake.
Msajili wa Hazina, Nehemia Mchechu, alisema Great Ruaha Marathon imeonyesha namna michezo inavyoweza kutumika kutangaza nchi, kuvutia watalii, kuongeza biashara na kuchochea uwekezaji.
Alisema utalii ni sekta yenye uwezo mkubwa wa kuendesha uchumi wa Taifa, akibainisha kuwa TANAPA ni miongoni mwa taasisi zinazochangia kwa kiwango kikubwa mapato ya Serikali.
Mbunge wa Bunge la Afrika Mashariki, Cosato Chumi, alisema uwepo wa watanzania kutoka sehemu mbalimbali nchini ndani ya Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Ruaha unaonyesha umoja wa kitaifa na namna michezo inavyoweza kuwaunganisha wananchi katika shughuli za maendeleo.
Alisema marathon hiyo imefungua fursa za ajira na biashara kwa wakazi wa maeneo yanayozunguka hifadhi kupitia huduma za usafiri, malazi, mahema, chakula na biashara nyingine zinazoongeza kipato cha wananchi.
Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Halmashauri ya Wilaya ya Kilolo, Siwema Jumaa alisema ujio wa washiriki na wageni umefungua dirisha la kutangaza vivutio vya utalii na fursa za uwekezaji zilizopo wilayani humo, ikiwemo kilimo cha parachichi, matunda na sekta nyingine za uzalishaji.
Mkurugenzi wa Sustainable Youth Development Partnership (SYDP), shirika linaloratibu mbio hizo, Eward Athanas, aliomba kuongezwa kwa uwekezaji wa hoteli na miundombinu ya utalii ndani na pembezoni mwa Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Ruaha ili kukidhi ongezeko la watalii na washiriki wa marathon hiyo, huku akiipongeza Airtel kwa kuboresha mawasiliano ndani ya hifadhi na kuwa mshirika rasmi wa mawasiliano wa Great Ruaha Marathon.
Alisema kwa mwaka wa tano sasa, Great Ruaha Marathon imeendelea kujiimarisha kama tamasha linalounganisha michezo, afya, uhifadhi wa mazingira, utalii na uwekezaji, huku likiiweka Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Ruaha kwenye ramani ya matukio makubwa ya utalii wa michezo barani Afrika.
