MWANZA: MKOA wa Mwanza umeandika historia mpya baada ya kutwaa ubingwa wa jumla wa Mashindano ya Umoja wa Michezo na Taaluma kwa Shule za Sekondari Tanzania (UMISETA) 2026, yaliyoshirikisha wanafunzi kutoka mikoa yote 26 ya Tanzania Bara pamoja na Zanzibar.
Katika mashindano hayo yaliyohitimishwa leo mjini Iringa, Mwanza iliongoza msimamo wa jumla baada ya kufanya vizuri katika michezo mbalimbali, ikiiacha Tabora katika nafasi ya pili na Morogoro kushika nafasi ya tatu.
Dar es Salaam ilimaliza ya nne, Pwani ya tano, Iringa ya sita, Kilimanjaro ya saba, Mbeya ya nane, Simiyu ya tisa na Arusha ikifunga orodha ya mikoa 10 bora.
Akifunga rasmi mashindano hayo kwa niaba ya Waziri Mkuu, Waziri wa Nchi, Ofisi ya Waziri Mkuu-TAMISEMI, Profesa Riziki Shemdoe amesema UMISETA imeendelea kuwa nguzo muhimu ya kuibua vipaji, kujenga nidhamu na kuimarisha umoja wa taifa.
“Ninapenda kuwatangazia kuwa vijana wote walioshiriki UMISETA 2026 ni washindi. Mmeshindana kwa nidhamu, mmeonyesha ushindani wa haki na mmeonesha kuwa Tanzania ina hazina kubwa ya vipaji vya michezo,” alisema Profesa Shemdoe huku akishangiliwa na mamia ya wanafunzi.
Alisema Serikali ya Awamu ya Sita chini ya Rais Dk Samia Suluhu Hassan imeendelea kuweka mazingira bora ya kukuza michezo shuleni kwa kuamini kuwa ndiyo msingi wa kuzalisha wanamichezo watakaoiwakilisha Tanzania katika mashindano ya kimataifa.
Aidha, aliwapongeza viongozi na wananchi wa Mkoa wa Iringa kwa maandalizi mazuri yaliyowezesha mashindano hayo kufanyika kwa amani, usalama na mafanikio makubwa.
“Iringa mmeonyesha uwezo mkubwa wa kuwa wenyeji. Mmeandaa mashindano haya kwa kiwango cha hali ya juu na mmeonyesha ukarimu unaostahili pongezi,” amesema.
Mashindano ya mwaka huu yalishuhudia ushindani mkali katika michezo yote.
Katika mpira wa miguu kwa wavulana, Tabora ilitwaa ubingwa baada ya kuifunga Morogoro huku Mwanza ikimaliza katika nafasi ya tatu.
Kwa soka la wasichana, Mwanza iliibuka mabingwa, Dodoma ikashika nafasi ya pili na Tabora ya tatu.

Katika mchezo wa baseball, Kilimanjaro iliibuka mabingwa, wakati Njombe ikitwaa ubingwa wa mpira wa goli kwa wanafunzi wenye uoni hafifu au wasioona.
