Uchimbaji watarajiwa kuanza mwezi huu
Mtwara: Maandalizi ya uchimbaji wa visima vitatu vya gesi asilia katika Kitalu cha Mnazi Bay kilichopo mkoani Mtwara yamekamilika kwa zaidi ya asilimia 90 huku mradi huo ukitarajiwa kuanza mapema mwezi huu.
Hayo yameelezwa na Mhandisi Felista Ndabita kutoka Shirika la Maendeleo ya Petroli Tanzania (TPDC) wakati wa ziara ya kikazi iliyofanywa na Mamlaka ya Udhibiti Mkondo wa Juu wa Petroli (PURA) kwa lengo la kufanya ufuatiliaji wa utekelezaji wa mradi huo muhimu kwa uchumi wa nchi.
Akizungumzia hatua iliyofikiwa, Mhandisi Felista alieleza kuwa kwa sasa mtambo utakaotumika katika uchimbaji wa gesi asilia umeshasimikwa tayari kuanza kwa zoezi la uchimbaji wa visima hivyo.
“Kama mnavyoona, kazi ya ufungaji wa mtambo wa kuchimba umekaribia kabisa kukamilika; na vifaa na miundombinu wezeshi ipo katika hatua za mwisho za kukamilika. Matarajio ni kuanza uchimbaji wa visima Februari 09, 2026.” Alieleza Ndabita.
Naye Mjiolojia kutoka PURA, Ebeneza Mollel alieleza kuwa PURA inafuatilia kwa karibu hatua iliyofikiwa na itaendelea kufuatilia kwa karibu utekelezaji wa mradi huo ili kuhakikisha kuwa malengo ya kuongeza uzalishaji kutoka katika Kitalu hicho yanafikiwa.
Kwa sasa, Kitalu cha Mnazi Bay kina jumla ya visima vitano vinavyozalisha gesi asilia kwa wastani wa futi za ujazo milioni 90 hadi 100 kwa siku.
Ongezeko la uzalishaji wa gesi asilia unaotarajiwa kufuatia uchimbaji wa visima hivyo utawezesha upatikanaji wa gesi zaidi kwa matumizi mbalimbali yakiwemo kuzalisha umeme, matumizi ya viwandani, majumbani na kwenye magari.
