Watoto wenye mahitaji maalumu wafundishwa kuzuia kuzama
DAR ES SALAAM: WATOTO wenye mahitaji maalum wamepewa kipaumbele katika maadhimisho ya Siku ya Kimataifa ya Kuzuia Kuzama Maji, kupitia mafunzo ya usalama majini na stadi za kuogelea yanayolenga kupunguza vifo na ajali zinazotokana na kuzama.
Mkurugenzi wa Tanzania Beach Lifeguard, Amina Mfaume, amesema Dar es Salaam kuwa maadhimisho ya mwaka huu yameandaliwa kwa ushirikiano na Chama cha Kuogelea Tanzania (TSA), North Coast Swimming Club, Jewel Sports, Prime na Lions club, yakibeba kaulimbiu isemayo “Mtu yeyote anaweza kuzama, lakini hakuna anayepaswa kuzama.”
Amesema mwaka huu wameamua kuelekeza nguvu kwa watoto wenye mahitaji maalumu kwa kuwa wanaamini ndio walio katika hatari kubwa zaidi ya kukumbwa na majanga ya maji, hasa wanapokutana na mafuriko au kuvuka maeneo yenye maji.
“Tunawafundisha mbinu za kujiokoa wanapokuwa kwenye hatari ya kuzama, stadi za kuogelea pamoja na elimu ya usalama majini ili waweze kujilinda na kuwasaidia wengine,” amesema Mfaume ambaye pia ni Mkurugenzi wa Ufundi wa TSA.
Kwa upande wake, Katibu Tarafa wa Kariakoo, Adrian Kishe, aliyemwakilisha Mkuu wa Wilaya katika maadhimisho hayo, amesema serikali inaunga mkono juhudi za wadau wanaoendelea kutoa elimu ya kuzuia ajali za kuzama, akieleza kuwa mafunzo hayo ni sehemu ya kujenga jamii yenye uwezo wa kujikinga na kuokoa maisha.
Amesema kuwafundisha watoto na vijana katika umri mdogo kunawajengea uelewa wa namna ya kujinusuru na kuwasaidia wengine wanapokumbana na hatari ya kuzama.
“Hatutegemei kila mtu atazama, lakini ni muhimu kila mmoja ajifunze namna ya kujiokoa au kumwokoa mwenzake pale anapopata tatizo. Elimu hii inapaswa kuwafikia wananchi wengi zaidi,” amesema Kishe.
Maadhimisho ya Siku ya Kimataifa ya Kuzuia Kuzama Maji hufanyika kila mwaka Julai 25 duniani kote kwa lengo la kuhamasisha jamii kuchukua hatua za kuzuia ajali za kuzama na kuimarisha elimu ya usalama majini.
